New Law Impacts McDonald's Owner/Operators in California

Effective January 1, 2020, California state law AB-2053: Employment Discrimination or Harassment: Education and Training: Abusive Conduct was enacted.  “Abusive Conduct” adds an additional training obligation on employers covered under AB 1825. These employers must now provide crew members with training on the prevention of abusive conduct.

EPRMA has partnered with Kantola Training Solutions to solve for different state requirements on Anti-Bullying and Sexual Harassment training for senior management and non-senior management.  California, New York, Connecticut, Maine, Delaware, and New York all have unique requirements that Owner Operators must meet to comply with the law.  The courses provided by EPRMA and Kantola satisfy those state requirements.   For 2019, California has also mandated that all employees – including hourly crew – must take a one (1) hour sexual harassment training course.  We are now able to provide that training on the website.   Owner Operators in all other states are encouraged to train their managers for best practices and we provide a course for those managers.

From Jeff Gukenberger, U.S. McDonald’s Owner/Operator Risk Management

Managers/Supervisors:

If you are already registered, you can log-in.  If not, please create an account.  We encourage managers under the same Owner Operator or store to use the same supervisor e-mail.  It makes it easier to track to see if the courses were completed.  Once you are logged on, simply sign to your Group Member Name.

The choices are California Supervisor Member, California Supervisor – Spanish Member, Maine Members, Connecticut Members, New York Employee, New York Supervisor, and Other States (Delaware will use that).   Once selected, the correct video will start.  Training is completed when the video and the questions are answered.  This is an interactive video and the manager does have the ability to start and stop the video.   A certificate of completion will be generated once done.  Please retain for your records.   Please contact EPRMA for copies of certification if need be.

California Crew:

California Crew Members can take the training in a group setting.  Select California Non-Supervisor Member (crew members.  Spanish currently not available).  If the crew members are taking the training as a group,  a manager must log every employee who took the training with the specific store number of the crew, the date, the time and store in a secure spot for two (2) years.    The manager should select one crew member to log in for the hour training and the certificate of completion would be under their name.   They would attach the employee attendance log to that certificate and keep for two (2) years.
